Integrated with Your Alarm System

Part of a connected security ecosystem, combining fire and intrusion protection in one coordinated response.

Why a Monitored Smoke Detector Provides Greater Protection

Unlike standalone smoke alarms that only alert occupants inside the property, PhoneWatch’s monitored smoke detector connects directly to a professional response team. This helps reduce emergency response times and ensures action can be taken even if the property is empty.

A fire can spread in minutes. PhoneWatch’s Optical Smoke Detector is professionally installed and connected to our 24/7 Monitoring Centre, helping ensure rapid response when smoke is detected, even if you’re not at home.

How Optical Smoke Detection Works

Optical smoke detection uses a sensing chamber with a light beam. When smoke enters the chamber, it scatters the light onto a sensor. Once smoke reaches a certain concentration, the alarm is triggered.

Beam is disrupted by smoke particles

Sensor detects scattered light and the local alarm sounds

Signal is transmitted to the PhoneWatch Monitoring Centre

How PhoneWatch’s Optical Smoke Detector Protects Your Home

A monitored smoke detector does more than sound like a siren. Below, we explain how each feature directly improves fire safety, reduces potential damage, and strengthens emergency response.

Smoke Detector Feature

  • How it works

  • Advanced Optical Smoke Detection
    • Detects slow-burning and smouldering fires at an early stage, often before visible flames appear, helping reduce fire spread and property damage.

  • Automatic Alarm Transmission
    • When smoke is detected, an alert is sent immediately to the PhoneWatch Monitoring Centre for rapid verification and response.

  • 24/7 Professional Monitoring
    • Provides continuous supervision so alarms are not dependent solely on occupants hearing the siren.

  • Battery Backup Protection
    • Maintains protection during power outages or electrical interruptions.

  • Tamper & System Supervision
    • Sends alerts if interference or technical issues are detected, helping ensure ongoing reliability.

  • Integrated with PhoneWatch Alarm System
    • Works as part of a complete monitored security and fire protection ecosystem.

Monitored Smoke Detector vs Standalone Smoke Detector

Not all smoke detectors provide the same level of protection.  A monitored smoke detector connects your home directly to a professional response team, adding an extra layer of protection. Early detection combined with professional monitoring helps reduce this risk and strengthens overall home protection.

Standalone Smoke Detector

  • Monitored Smoke Detector (PhoneWatch)

  • Sounds only inside the property
    • Alerts both occupants and the Monitoring Centre

  • No response if property is empty
    • Professional response even when you are away

  • No system supervision
    • Continuous system monitoring
