Burglary Statistics Ireland 2025: What the CSO Data Shows
Burglaries in Ireland in 2025 fell by 13%, marking the first meaningful decline after three consecutive years of increases. According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Q4 2025 release (for the full year of 2025), a total of 8,469 burglaries were recorded nationwide, down from 9,748 in 2024. While this represents genuine progress, the headline figure tells only part of the story. Overall, 8,4,640 Irish households unfortunately still experienced a break-in last year and the picture varies dramatically across the country. Five Garda divisions recorded increases, including parts of the greater Dublin area. This breakdown covers the national trend, the regional increases and decreases of burglary rates in Ireland, and what these numbers mean for homeowners assessing their own risk.
